The Outcome
The day centre will serve adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The housing comprises 42 affordable 1-bed flats aimed at people typically over 55 (sheltered housing). The site was a former doctor’s surgery in a residential area which had been demolished to make way for the proposal.
A key part of our role was to review and comment on the application drawings and documents to ensure that they were clear, consistent and robust. Once the planning application was submitted we acted as the conduit between consultees and the client’s team, ensuring that we responded quickly and effectively to comments, providing clarifications and updates but not being afraid to challenge consultees where appropriate. We also reviewed and commented on draft conditions in discussion with the team to ensure that the transition to the construction phase was as smooth as possible.
