The Outcome

SP&D appeared at the Local Plan Examination for the first review of Guildford’s Local Plan in over 15 years. The Council were, post the Inspector’s report into the Mid Sussex Local Plan, grappling with the requirement to look beyond existing restrictions to actively try to meet housing need. SP&D made the case that, unlike other locations, this site did not play any of the roles of Green Belt land. We also undertook a detailed analysis of other sites to highlight risks to their delivery and suggested an amendment to the housing policy to require an early review if the sites did not come forward.
